The not- quite- daily internet column of Dave Walker. Dave is a freelance cartoonist who draws a weekly 'Guide to the Church' for the Church Times. (more)
I’ve come to the conclusion that not every post on my blog needs to be a cartoon or something important. Some days it’s just OK to post a song I’ve been listening to on my Ipod, or, well… anything. If you like country-folk singers playing songs about theological uncertainty in respectable living rooms with numerous lamps then you’ll like this, if not you won’t. By Iris DeMent, in case you wanted to hunt it down yourself.

This is the second video I have posted this week. Blogger Scott Gunn was frowning after the posting of the first one, so this second one might tip him over the edge.
Pringle of Scotland has commissioned artist David Shrigley to create a humorous short animated film about life behind-the-scenes at Pringle to celebrate the brands return to Milan Fashion Week
[Warning: probably not suitable for children]
I am a great David Shrigley fan, although I must warn those of a sensitive disposition that some readers may find some of his work not to their liking.
I don’t normally post these kinds of things, but this made my morning.
The official video for the recorded version of “This Too Shall Pass” off of the album “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky”. The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Synn Labs ( http://syynlabs.com/ ) over the course of several months.
This is the bus that my friend Simon uses for his youthwork project. The video allows you to look around it from the comfort of your computer chair.
I always like looking around buses. They are like campervans, but bigger.
If you have a bus, campervan, mobile home, boat, shed, outbuilding or something else interesting that we could look around please let me know. There you go, a little weekend project for you. I hope everyone has a good weekend, whether you use it videoing the inside of your garden shed or in some other way.

On Friday we went to see the Radio 4 comedy show New World Order being recorded. It is by Danny Wallace and was very entertaining… and free. Before we went into the actual studio-sort-of-area we had to write a question to ask the ruler of the world. Ten or so people were selected to read their questions out, of which I was one. Goodness.
I am not going to tell you my question as it might be supposed to be highly secret. It may well not be used though as they recorded about an hour and fifteen minutes-worth (a guess) for what will, I imagine, be a half hour programme. I think my bit will be the bit that gets cut out.
Whilst blogging in about 2005 I mentioned Citizens Required, another Danny Wallace programme. Here is the video of the ‘How to Start Your Own Country’ song. It still gives me an immense sense of inner wellbeing even after all these (three) years. I hope it does the same for you.
I have added an extra category to the blog entitled ‘going out to things’. It will be a category for occasional use.
Warning: video contains country music that some viewers may find cheesy.
The song is ‘Mississippi Squirrel Revival’ by Ray Stevens. All credit to the Evangelism UK website who are using it (one assumes) in evangelism training.
I would like to say ‘no comment’ to the rumours that I have two vinyl Ray Stevens records within my shelving.
Warning: repeated use of the word ‘pisseth’ (as used in the King James Version of the Bible).
I found the clip via Real Live Preacher (who, incidentally, has a new website – worth adding to your feed reader). Apparently it is for real – it is by Pastor Steve Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church. To quote his website:
Pastor Anderson holds no college degree but has well over 100 chapters of the Bible committed to memory
