I have used my electric computer scanner and pasted together a copy of my Baptist Times interview in an adequate but not particularly professional way. This readable version is here (large jpeg image file, 800 or so kb, click again on downloaded image to enlarge, click back button to get back here).
Those who just want the general gist without the words can look at this picture:

As you can see I look like a model for a clothing catalogue. Actually that is my day job, but I have kept it quiet for fear of reprisals.
Thanks to Graham for sending the newspaper so promptly.

A month or so ago I was interviewed by the Baptist Times. The article appears in the latest edition, published last Thursday.

I haven’t read the interview, so I don’t know what I said. It was a very enjoyable interview, so I might have relaxed too much and said something outrageous. The issue of the paper itself is here where the front cover can be seen and a thumbnail of the article page (right). It can be ascertained that I am pictured in front of a wall on which I have drawn a large cartoon, and I am scratching my chin or adjusting my collar. The Baptist Times website is here. I recommend it for Baptist news.
I’ll hopefully be sent a copy at some point, but if any Baptists reading have an unwanted one lying around then let me know. If you need it to line the cat tray I can send you a copy of the Basildon Recorder in exchange. If I get a chance I’ll buy the paper of course, but Christian bookshops have largely abandoned South East Essex meaning a trip into central London to find one. I’m unlikely to do so before Friday, by which time it will be last week’s news.
Update: Someone has kindly offered to send me the paper, so I’m no longer in need of one. Thanks for various offers.

Tomorrow morning, Sunday 24th of February I am being interviewed on BBC Radio Berkshire. It is nothing to do with SPCK or the Lambeth Conference, but rather because I used to live in Berkshire. I am told that it is this website that will be talked about on a show about ‘Berkshire’s religious news and ethical debates’. It will only be a five minute interview and will be at about 20 to 9 in the morning. I’m not usually very awake at that time on a Sunday morning, so I might say something outrageous. (Note to the producer: I’m joking.)
Don’t get up specially or miss going to church or anything. Who knows, you might even be able to listen again via the internet. I don’t know about that as I haven’t looked into it.
I’ve added an ‘interviews’ category to the blog. If this is the last and only time I’m interviewed I’m going to look pretty silly.
Update, Sunday 9am: Well, it happened. A fairly very short interview in which my church quiz specialism was revealed and I had to hide the fact that I haven’t been drawing cartoons of Archbishop Rowan. To listen again click ‘listen again’ in the right hand column of the Radio Berkshire page, go to the ‘Clare Catford’ show and go in 2 hours 45 minutes. My slot is after the song ‘I thought it was over’ by ‘The Feeling’ which is what you hear when you arrive at the 2minutes 45 mark. Steve Madden did the show rather than the usual presenter – just in case the fact that you hear a male voice confuses you.
