I have a birthday approaching. I’d say it is a round number, but it is more a mixture of one angular number and one round one.
To celebrate this fact we (my wife and I) are embarking on a small tour of certain places. It will take approximately one week.
In some of the places we will be seeing some people and doing some things. The organisation of the venture has been haphazard, so please don’t be too offended if it turns out that we passed your door and didn’t tell you, or met up with your nemesis and not you, etc.
The tour started yesterday in Essex. Today we are on a train to Eastbourne (which has just divided at Haywards Heath – don’t worry, we made sure we were in the front four carriages).
On Sunday I am making an appearance at the Southminster art and craft exhibition at St Leonards Church in Southminster, Essex (location). If you would like to see a few of my cartoons or buy a book and you happen to live in that particular part of rural Essex I might be as bold as to say that this is an ideal opportunity. The cartoons on show might be the same ones as I showed at Greenbelt, depending upon the results of my forthcoming trip into the depths of the Church Times basement.
I do enjoy doing this sort of thing (small exhibitions / talks with diagrams). I could occasionally be persuaded to do a bit more. I should warn you though that my green room requirements are fairly demanding.
On Friday we went to see the Radio 4 comedy show New World Order being recorded. It is by Danny Wallace and was very entertaining… and free. Before we went into the actual studio-sort-of-area we had to write a question to ask the ruler of the world. Ten or so people were selected to read their questions out, of which I was one. Goodness.
I am not going to tell you my question as it might be supposed to be highly secret. It may well not be used though as they recorded about an hour and fifteen minutes-worth (a guess) for what will, I imagine, be a half hour programme. I think my bit will be the bit that gets cut out.
Whilst blogging in about 2005 I mentioned Citizens Required, another Danny Wallace programme. Here is the video of the ‘How to Start Your Own Country’ song. It still gives me an immense sense of inner wellbeing even after all these (three) years. I hope it does the same for you.
I have added an extra category to the blog entitled ‘going out to things’. It will be a category for occasional use.
