I will be absent from my church tomorrow. I belong to a group which use a different church to meet in, and they asked if one of us could come and talk about to them about our group. It was decided that as I was Christian it should be me who goes. Was fine with that, we often have people come to my church to talk for 4 to 5 minutes about what their grouups do. I have now discovered that my talk is actually scheduled for after the service, and is expected to last for FORTY FIVE minutes, not 4 – 5 minutes!
I’ve heard most of these before (and used *mumble* of them), with the exception ‘my dog ate my prayer book’… ‘Prayer book being repaired’ would be one though. Makes my day seeing them in cartoon form.
I’m impressed that your community stick around long enough after the service to warrant a 45 minute talk. May God strengthen your soap box.
