Thank you for your kind comments.

Unfortunately, having thought about it, I would be unwise to post anything about reasons for my churchgoing (or lack of) on this site. It would be unwise of me to talk about anything that really matters, and this makes me sad.

I'm interested! We have our "occasionals" too. Mostly it has to do with their children's soccer leagues.

If you ever come to Chicago, please come by; I will make you a proper cuppa tea.

Dave, here is a poem that has helped me:

Silences
by John Montague

1
Poetry is a weapon, and should be used,
though not in the crudity of violence.
It is a prayer before an unknown altar,
a spell to bless the silence.

2
There is a music beyond all this,
beyond all forms of grievance,
where anger lays its muzzle down
into the lap of silence.

3
Or some butterfly script,
fathomed only by the other,
as supple fingers draw
a silent message from the tangible.

I am interested too, Dave. Can you pray? Can you sit with your hands open to receive? We are the Church. We are the Body of Christ. No need to strive or fret.

We have comfy chairs at the back of the church for people with dodgy backs etc. They dont recline though. Some of the lovely lovely people who sit on them are elderly and/or confused. Reclining chairs would cause problems.
