Academic record

IMG_0554

Limited self-understanding or ability to communicate about Christianity. Borderline when it comes to doctrine or being a youth worker. Rubbish at the second part of the Old Testament. Hermeneutical genius.

[Day spent sorting paperwork. Attempting to make space in home office for the contents of CartoonChurch HQ.]

  1. Rachel says:

    Dear Dave
Whoever judged you on communication skills needs their head examined. You have a great talent for reflecting back to us the ridiculousness/ idiosyncrasies of many parts of the church in a non-threatening way. In fact I believe a Lent (or other) course based around your work would be a very good idea. Think about it!
Please don’t give up blogging. With the (temporary – I hope) absence of The Church Mouse who else is going to give us a touch of reality?
Prayers for you at this new stage of your life. Rachel

  2. chris clark says:

That explains why you struggle with your tax returns, you are no good at saying when you are in prophet!

I had no idea Youth and Community work were essential.

Is Hermen Eutic a German Theologian?

  3. Sarah says:

But your first doctrine mark was so good! Where did it start to go wrong, Dave?

  4. sarahw says:

As I recall (but it is becoming a scarily long time ago) the 2nd year was when the cartooning began to take off(?)

  5. Dave says:

Rachel – thank you, your comments much appreciated.

Chris – jokes jotted down to be passed-off as my own at some future point.

Sarah – the question I often ask myself.

sarahw – your recollection is correct. That said I think it is fair to say that cartooning was not the cause of my downfall or indeed the cause of my Old Testament failings.

  6. sarahw says:

I wasn’t meaning to suggest that your cartooning distracted you from your studies. Personally I enjoyed being distracted from my studies by seeing what your latest offering on college life was.
Somewhere I still have that booklet that you produced…

  7. Mark Bennet says:

The gift of discernment was not given to your examiners. The gift of cartooning was given to Dave Walker.
There are no cartoons in the Bible (except for the Good News Version).
Dave Walker’s cartoons are good news.

It looks as though you are quite good at block placement. What sort of blocks did you learn to place? Did this qualify you for work with the creche and perhaps Sunday school?
