Part two of my detailed and in-depth travel diary. Today I saw some slippers with built in LED lights for night time walking.
These, as I see it, are the future of the slipper. The promotional material says that they are ‘ideal for those late night bathroom visits’, but I’d say the possibilities are endless. Undertaking nocturnal obstacle courses, reading a book by slipperlight, apprehending any night time criminals making their approach crawling along on the carpet, the list goes on.
Please use the comment section below to put forth your opinion as to the merits of slippers with headlights. Please respect those with opposing views as I can see this being a contentious topic.

I have a birthday approaching. I’d say it is a round number, but it is more a mixture of one angular number and one round one.
To celebrate this fact we (my wife and I) are embarking on a small tour of certain places. It will take approximately one week.
In some of the places we will be seeing some people and doing some things. The organisation of the venture has been haphazard, so please don’t be too offended if it turns out that we passed your door and didn’t tell you, or met up with your nemesis and not you, etc.
The tour started yesterday in Essex. Today we are on a train to Eastbourne (which has just divided at Haywards Heath – don’t worry, we made sure we were in the front four carriages).
Further updates to quite possibly follow.
Note to commenters: please be vague if possible.

You can see a larger version than this here: the clergy desk (larger version than this).
If you are not a part of the clergy it is OK, there is a desk for you too: desk if you are not clergy (from 2007).

This isn’t the full diagram – you’ll need to click here to see that.
By the way if you’re enjoying the pictures I’ve been posting recently they are all from the same book, The Exciting World of Churchgoing. Available from shops or the internet.
I’ll be honest with you, I’m not on a single rota. Too lazy / sacked for incompetence. But I’m sure many people reading are on many. I know, here is a thing: I’ll offer a small prize to the person who is on the most rotas. You must name them and be generally believable. We may do some checking by visiting you on your rota duties heavily disguised as passers-by.

Click here for a readable version: Parish life before the invention of the computer
I think computers have, in general, make our lives less happy, but I don’t have time to discuss this as I have to go and do things on the computer.
Don’t get me wrong, lots of very good things would not have not been possible without the advance of technology (my cartooning career included) but we’ve lost a lot and I think a lot of the time we forget or don’t even realise that this is the case. Or perhaps that’s just me.

There is a larger version of this cartoon here. Along with info about republishing and that kind of thing.
Perhaps I was thinking about special Sundays, perhaps I was wanting to recognise those who do the cleaning and other ordinary tasks (often unseen) in churches, perhaps I was thinking about the nonsense we talk about in church to do with ‘vocation’ and ‘calling’, perhaps I was thinking of cartoon ideas whilst brandishing a mop (unlikely).

I was pleased to hear that Bishop Michael Jackson was announced as the new Archbishop Of Dublin And Glendalough today. I don’t, as a rule, comment here on church news any more, but I wanted to post this picture.

This is Bishop Michael Jackson (as he was then) and I sorting the press badges for the 2008 Lambeth Conference into alphabetical order. I can’t remember exactly how we came to be doing this, but I think it was a day or two before the conference and some help was required in the nerve centre of the operation and we both happened to be there with some time to spare. I am known, as you are no doubt aware, for my administrative skills, so I was, no doubt, an obvious choice.
I do remember clearly that he was a very friendly bishop and he was most interested in my cartooning activities. I wish him well in his new job.

You won’t be able to see this unless your eyesight is remarkably good, so I’d suggest clicking here for a larger version.
Uninteresting paragraph
Sorry to be late posting this punctuality cartoon (see earlier promise of one a day). The delay had nothing at all to do with the fact that I was getting into a awful tangle with my tax return. Perhaps one year I will not leave it until January. In fact have plans to contact someone in approximately June to help me with it. Next week I am going to telephone the H&M Revenue (they also run the shops) to see whether I can have some of my money back.
