I had a very embarrassing incident today. And my daughter immediately told everyone on facebook. We had been to lunch at a rather nice place and the time came to pay. I added a gratuity because they had made me something specially, I am coeliac, and I did the chip and pin thing wrong and added my pin number to amount to pay, and it tried to take over a quarter of a million pounds in payment. Thankfully, my card provider rejected it.

If we are having a liturgy about embarrassing mistakes can we have one about forgiving people who put our mistakes on facebook.

Kathryn – I think you are right. I’ve not had much experience at writing liturgy, as may be apparent.

Chris – I think a member of the clergy embarrassing themselves whilst conducting this liturgy would be immediately forgiven.

Sarah – I believe he’s now our bishop. I think I should wait until it is a more fully-formed before sending it to him. I’m already fairly misunderstood in the diocese following the Synod fiasco.

The liturgy could be as they say in computer speak “recursive” as for some us the embarrassing moments are whilst conducting liturgy…you know wrong name at funeral/wedding, completely losing one’s place..

I love the liturgy but wonder if people might be too embarrassed to read out their stories; could we have a variation with more general categories, like your diagram?

“At all the times we have had a bit too much to drink and said something really stupid that we don’t quite remember clearly the next day….We are not alone” or something along those lines…
