Fresh Expressions cartoons

One or two people have been asking me for Fresh Expressions cartoons as the subject has been talked about in various places this week (although I don’t really want to get into that here).

First of all, my Graham Cray cartoon from the Church Times blog earlier this year:

graham cray

Secondly my cartoon entitled ‘The alternative worshippers‘ from a while back.

There must be more, but I can’t remember them. You’re welcome to post these on a personal blog, but please link back. Thank you!

[Aside: there may be a slight delay on the choir hats pictures, as I've not got around to scanning and suchlike and I'm trying to get an important drawing job done.]

I was asking a collegue if she felt she would like to return my Fresh Expressions DVD. As it is now several years old I suspect the expressions may in fact be slightly stale!

I always feel that fresh expressions would be great in our rural village but that in village life anything new is treated with the utmost suspicion for at least a couple of centuries so any change good or bad has a bumpy ride.
    Any suggestions from your readers?

An excellent depiction of Graham Cray, if I may say so Dave!

Sadly Graham’s chart is incomplete as far as Fresh Expression church ‘buildings’ go. The Fresh Expression of church in our parish (Parish of Walthamstow, Barking Area, Chelmsford Diocese) doesn’t involve a conventional church building at all. See:

St Luke’s in the market is currently looking for an ordained pioneer minister by the way … anyone out there?!

Sorry to hijack this post with a reply too, Dave, but:

    Dear Margaret
Life in the city and country are so different and each have their own challenges. I would really recommend you read the Mission Shaped Church book which we found inspirational (and join one of the courses if it is available in your locality). One from the book phrase that really brought things into perspective for me was:
“It is not the Church of God that has a mission to the world, but the God of mission who has a church in the world.” There are so many different ideas for FX around now, in all environments, so I am sure that God has one for your church situation.
    Blessings!

After I posted I realised I wrote St Luke’s in the market rather than St Luke’s in the High St – easy slip as the High St and the market are the same but still looks a bit silly! Any chance you can change the wording – please?
    Thanks Dave

A cartoon on Messy Church would be good. We hold it once a month and it is great, lots of people who bring children to the Toddler Group come to it as their first visit to a church “service”. And lots of people come from other churches who are considering having Messy Church at their church. And it is good. And not just for kids, our oldest regular is 92.
