    Gladstone was once asked what an archdeacon does. His reply was, “he performs archidiaconal duties.” A perfectly satisfactory exposition of the matter!

    I was amused to read a blogpost elsewhere (sorry url escapes me) about reasons people are afraid of church.

    One of the reasons is as follows

    Archdeacons are scared to attend church, because we’ve all seen Rev
