Vague news

It has just emerged (or may have emerged some time ago) that someone got into what could possibly have been a disagreement with someone else. It might not have been a disagreement as such, but it might have been. It could have been more a lack of agreement, although I’m not saying that that was the case. It was, as I understand it, over something that was said, or done, or perhaps said and done. Some people may have said that it was more about what was said, and I’ve heard it said that others have maintained that it was more about what was done. I’m not saying that anything was said, or that anyone was done, but then I’m not saying that nothing was said, or that nothing was done. If it was I may or may not have known the full facts, and even if I did know them they were only the facts as I understood them.

The incident (not that I’d call it that), occurred some time ago, although not that long ago. It depends what sort of time scale you are looking at. I’m not trying to make out that it was a recent occurrence, but it may not have been more than a number of months or years ago.

Some bloggers may or may not have written about it, although I’m not suggesting you should read their articles. Also there may have been news stories, which you may choose to read should you wish to do so (not that I’m saying there have been any). The people writing about it may have got their information right, or they may have got it wrong, and you should bear that in mind if you choose to read them, although I’m not for one moment suggesting that you should do such a thing.

I’ve tried to tell you as much as I can but for certain reasons I may have needed to keep some of the details vague. Writing in a more specific way could possibly have caused some problems, although I’m not saying that there is any reason for thinking that it would cause any problems.

[Please excuse this post - lets just say it has helped me even if it makes no sense to anyone else.]

  2. And this is what passes as Christian news these days… « Gavin Drake says:

[...] I’m not going to add to it or comment on it other than to say he has brilliantly hit the nail on the head, and I suggest you give it a read.  You can find it at http://www.cartoonchurch.com/blog/2010/07/29/vague-news/ [...]

  3. Kathryn says:

I almost certainly have no idea what you’re talking about, unless of course I do. Either way, I’m glad writing such a post has been helpful. Maybe.

  4. Aaron Orear says:

I have a very firm position on this entire situation. My opinions are my opinions, and they are held by me. I have thought about it, regarded other people’s points of view, and have come to this conclusion. That is what I think and how I feel, and there’s nothing that anyone can or cannot say, do or not do, to dissuade me.

  5. Ed says:

I do not necessarily agree or disagree.

  6. Adrian says:

What on earth are you going on about? If you have something to say – then say it!

Posts like these merely serve to increase rumour & doubt. Was it me I ask myself? Where is this information? Is it something personal.

Come on Dave, you can do better than this, it simply doesn’t become you as a professional.

  7. Nancy Wallace says:

Are you going to tentatively sketch and ambiguous cartoon to illustrate this vague news? I hope so!

  8. Phil Ruse says:

Ah yes. I heard about this!

  9. Anne says:

Oh. OK. I think I know what you’re referring to. Are you saying that there might (or might not) be some new news on this subject?

  10. chris clark says:

I’m so sorry, it was all my fault..as usual..

  11. Mary says:

Are you sure Chris? I thought it was my fault, because after I’d apologised to everyone I could think of, (including the man who walks his dog past the church everyday) I thought the alleged incident had passed and everyone was happy. But no, someone resented the fact I’d taken the blame when it was really THEIR fault and the whole alleged incident reared its ugly head again. I’m not sorry I was sorry but I’m sorry that being sorry has such sorry consequences.

  12. David Keen says:

Or ‘Scandal Splits Church of England’, as the Telegraph subeditors might headline this article.

  13. Trudi Shaw says:

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

  14. Chorister says:

    Heh.
