Work cartoon

this last piece

This cartoon is of ‘week off’ quality.

This is in fact a working week off. I’ve decided that if I work during my week off then when it comes to a working week I’ll have less work to do, so I can have more time off. It is all very carefully thought through.

My working week off is not all work though. We went to Paris for one night for a family occasion, today we might go to the shops, whilst on another day there remains the possibility of some sort of escapade. If the details sound sketchy that is because they are. If anyone has escapade ideas with a starting point in the Basildon area then please do share them.

I think the next load of work will be reduced as he has no chance of getting all through the door. There will be a pile of things scattered on the far side. If you distract him (How about a day at Southend) he will probably drop even more.

A day in Southend can be nice, if cold at this time of year – just got back from a morning there. But have you tried laser tag at Skirmish in Billericay? Great fun, if you can get a group together. Or you can do paintball at the same place, but that’s more expensive and can be painful.

This is why, if you want to get ahead of yourself, you must lock the door, turn off your phone and not go near your emails. It’s the only way.

From Basildon you could, with minimal planning, invade Belgium
I guess that would be an escapade.

  5. Lois Keen says:

Wow – archdruid Eileen wins! OCICBW…

Schedule recreation time the same as any other part of your diary, and stick to it. Easy to say, impossible for some people to do. Make an appointment to meet yourself in the local park, and eat icecream/drink coffee, depending on the time of year. Don’t take your phone.

Don’t worry about having less time when you get back. Work expands to fill the time you have available; the less time you have, the quicker it gets done. Try it.
