Lambeth Conference cartooning tent

Lambeth Conference cartooning tent

I’m pleased to say that I have arrived safely at the Lambeth Conference. I will do a proper update later on this afternoon on the Church Times blog, which is where I will be keeping my main Lambeth Diary. Irritatingly I’ve been having various computer problems, hence the lack of updates so far.

I couldn’t resist one picture though – this is my special ‘cartoonist in residence’ tent, which I will be resident in from tomorrow. The big blue tent in the background is the tent for bishops. Theirs is bigger, but then there are more of them.

That’s true, Dave. But then, you make me laugh, which bishops most definitely don’t. With the rare exception. So you can hold your head up with pride. Which is more than they can wearing those silly hats! ;)

Really looking forward to reading your blog – thanks for all you do to keep us informed and amused. So tell me why is the bishop’s tent not purple – surely blue is a bit downbeat?
Good luck with the computer gremlins.

  3. Sarah B says:

So have you been given some canvas paint so you can cartoon on the very white tent? THAT would be pretty cool!

Is it just me or does the bishops’ tent look like a circus?

  4. Judith R says:

Looks good, Dave. Have you seen any bishops in disguise walking around the campus yet?

Prayers for you, the computer and the conference.

  5. Neil says:

I am going to come to your tent and protest, I not sure what about, but it just seems fitting to do so.

I thought it had a funny hat!

    - it looks like two Bishops Mitres from where I’m looking.

  9. Ann says:

I didn’t know that Canterbury Cathedral was blue.

  10. Philip of Samaria says:

I’m very concerned about the sexuality of that tent – it could cause trouble…

  11. JKBMedic says:

It looks like they have two identical Bishops’ tents side-by-side. One for the liberals and one for the conservatives perhaps?

[...] Yesterday I wrote about Dave Walker’s tent here at the Lambeth Conference. As you may recall, he is serving as (I am not making this up) “Cartoonist in residence.” That’s surely a good thing. He has put a picture of his tent up over on his blog. His photo conveniently does not show something else very well. [...]
