The Dave Walker Guide to the Church 2009 Calendar

Please excuse two ‘publications’ posts on the same day – it just so happens that they’ve come into stock within a day of each other.

2009 Dave Walker calendar

The Dave Walker Guide to the Church 2009 Calendar is published by Canterbury Press. This year’s theme is ‘Things to take to church’. All of the pages of cartoons are new apart from one. They took me ages. Subjects include:

Oddly enough I did a post on February 10 2008 asking for your ideas on the subject of ‘things to take to church’. Your answers in the comments were a great help to me and sustained me through the long nights of toil. So thank you – seriously.

The Canterbury Press page is here. Church House Bookshop have it in stock, priced £5.99. They do mail order. If you’re looking to order it elsewhere the ISBN number is 9781853118746.

I’ll post soon about my new cartoon book, which is due out in August or hopefully even July. In the meantime information about it is available on the internet, but I’m not telling you where.

[...] Update, 13/6/2008: Serious fans won’t want to miss the new Dave Walker Guide to the Church 2009 Calendar, hot off the press today according to the man himself. Far too frivolous for a serious bookshop like mine, of course [...]

  2. James a Hampshire Vicar says:

    Dave

Received my copy yesterday – had a look through it and now can’t wait until next year! Great effort, well done.

  3. Ian says:

Hurrah for the new calendar. The 2008 ones I bought went down a treat, so Canterbury Press better have many in stock to ship to us Antipodeans.

  4. Smudgie says:

You know, I think it’s about time that someone published a guide to the church 2009 calendar. I find the whole thing so darned difficult to understand. I guess the guide will include things like an index to the months in alphabetical order and an explanation of irritating abbreviations like AGM and SSA. Well done, Dave, for once again tapping uncharted territory in the publishing world.

  5. Canon G says:

I was able to find “What Am I Doing Here” in the states from one major online bookstore but alas, instead of being named for the Patron of Wales (David) you are now the first martyr (Stephen). One hopes this is not prophetic.

  6. UTB says:

This arrived in our shop yesterday – and even my sister who is not of a go to church persuasion was in fits over it.
She found it be immensely helpful and swore that it was definitely something she would need should she decide to go to church! She was however disappointed by the fact, Dave, that you felt her cat was perhaps one of those items it was best not to take church and could instead be left at home!
It is entirely possible that one of these will become the official shop calender for next year!
    Excellent Work as usual.

  7. Jean Wyber says:

Is 31 July a non day in the 2009 calendar too? To a non anglican with an anglican spouse it is very useful to have the festival days marked. Thank you

  8. Helena Adams says:

Help please, Dave! I have your calendar for 2008 and I am seriously worried about what will happen to me next Thursday – according to you this day DOES NOT EXIST! There is a gaping hole between Wednesday the 30th July and Friday the 1st August. What does this time warp mean? Will those of us who have depended on you all year simply disappear in one marvellous rapture for a day? Please advise… quickly!
