What am I doing here?

I notice that the webpage for one of the projects I have been working on is now up: What am I Doing Here? – A Beginner’s Guide to Church by Hilary Brand. It is published by Church House Publishing.

I’d tell you more, but I’ve a train to catch.

I notice the CHP description of the book has you down as “one of the best-known Christian cartoonists in the UK”. I didn’t know there were so many UK Christian cartoonists that (a) even though you’re the only one I could name, you’re only “one of the best-known” and (b) I get the impression there are so many that someone has a list with rankings of how well they’re known. How do you think you become THE best-known Christian cartoonist in the UK? Hmmm

  2. Phelim McIntyre says:

I’ve been going to Church for years. I’ve done Bible readings, led intercessions, led the service, and even preached. Yet I still find myself wondering what on earth is going on, and why am I there. I think I’ll have to buy this book.

  3. Richard Greatrex says:

While I would readily concur that Dave is ‘one of the best known Christian cartoonists in the UK’ I think that Ron (St Gargoyle’s) and Darren (Bold’s Fold) probably stand shoulder to shoulder with him.

The new book sounds good – a must for every household – but while we are on the subject of cartoonists called ‘Dave’…

… please would someone explain the humour of Dave Shrigley?

  4. Mark Bennet says:

The best known cartoonist accolade is probably like the greatest in the kingdom of heaven – not worth fishing for yourself, but freely bestowed by the legitimate giver.

One day someone will write a book (or perhaps a PhD thesis) on the iconic SPCK cartoon and the aftermath (hang on, that might even be me …)

  5. PK says:

There’s Si Smith as well while we’re trying to do a top ten (no order – each equally lovely) of Christian cartoonists.

Looks cool, nice one Dave (and Hilary). Look forward to catching up with it on release.

((actually I know I said no order, but I do prefer the cartoon blog to St Gargoyles in a big way, sorry. Just had to get some sort of a threshold limit in there somewhere)).
