Greenbelt communion service moved

From the Greenbelt website:

…this year, we’ll be holding our Festival Communion service at 3pm on Sunday afternoon

To half of the readership of this website this will be utterly irrelevant.
To the other half this will be utterly life changing. Well… OK, it will be of passing interest.

Well there goes the plan to go swimming in the afternoon!!

I am already standing in the queue for showers – going to have to change my whole plan now! Great…

Heh, Ellen got there first – I wonder though if her change of plan means an afternoon or a morning shower on Sunday now ….

Well, as we London Mennos always worship at 3.00 pm owing to lack of hall availability in the morning, it will seem just like home. But it won’t feel like a Greenbelt Sunday. Still, more time for me to go shopping in the morning! (I only go to GB to shop these days…)

A lie in for all, Great!
I won’t be woken up at some ridiculous hour by the sound of tom tom drums, whistles and adults arguing about what happened to the red wine and that spare loaf they brought with them and is now mouldy as it was bought on Wednesday, spent all day Thursday and Friday in the top of a hot car (don’t want to squash it) and spent all day Saturday in the spare tent getting sweaty and mouldy.
As for the afternoon, well I just guess that Sunday Lunch in the pub will have to be extended and more leisurely. The Communion service is just too much for my non church going friends who love to go to Greenbelt for the great atmosphere.

Oh well, I’ll just have to not go at three o’clock instead now! I quite enjoyed the peace and quiet on the campsite in the morning when everyone* else was there, and for the last few years have sat at my tent listening to the service on the radio while eating eggy bread – with a peculiar couple of second’s* time difference from the sounds coming across the racecourse – like an echo!

    * Excepting my fellow skivers of course
**I can’t decide if that needs an apostrophe or not?!

Oops, one of the stars seems to have fallen off my last comment!
