Preparation

preparation

This is today’s Advent calendar image. I forgot to post it as I was so caught up in posting about the news of the day.

I make lists, but usually I get so overwhelmed by item one, which is invariably ‘Tidy office’, that I get disillusioned and give up on the rest.

For more cartoons about my shambolic general state see the ‘my failings‘ category on We Blog Cartoons.

Thanks, quite right, although on occasion I am also rather overprepared.

The trick with lists is always to have at least 10% of items on it which you know you can achieve.
    For example:
    1. Write a list.
    2. Tick this box when you’ve read through list.
    3. Check Dave Walker’s Cartoonblog.

That way you end up with a good number of ticks on your list within the first few minutes (depending on how long you spend on the Cartoonblog). It looks as if you’re getting somewhere and you feel much better about things.

ALSO – don’t put ‘Tidy Office’ that’s akin to saying ‘avert global warming by tea-time). Instead try:
    1. Clear coffee cups from office.
    2. Clear that teetering pile of junk mail off the top of the cat.
    3. Empty waste paper bin.
And, so long as you haven’t brought any more coffee cups into the office in the interim, that’s three more ticks.

    Easy isn’t it?

Oh, I like Pax’s suggestions! I will prepare to mend my ways with regard to my lists starting — uh — tomorrow! Tonight, I will put out the piece of list paper and the pen. There, that’s sorted. And I feel so much better.
