Bishops Meetings

bishops meetings

This is the belated fifth and final cartoon from my Cartoon Challenge Night. I got there eventually. I changed the concept rather, but it is based on the suggestion by Mary in a limited sort of a way.

I will add this and one or two other cartoons to the downloadable area before too long so that subscribers can use them. It might be Monday though as I am behind with things and we are going out.

Talking of cartoons the Church Times is available free online for this week only owing to the postal strike that is currently happening here in the UK. This means that there is a rare opportunity for non subscribers to see my latest cartoon for this week, entitled ‘Clergy Advertisements‘. If you’d like to see the fruit of my latest blood, sweat and tears every week why not subscribe to the Church Times. It is currently £65 for Uk subscriptions and £95 in the USA.

calendarTalking of various things, I mentioned a few weeks back that my book was temporarily out of print, but then forgot to say when it was in print again. So, to set the record straight, it is in print again. The calendar is also selling well apparently – Rhys sent me a link yesterday to Christian Marketplace, who are recommending it as a Christmas present. Who am I to argue. The book and calendar are both £5.99 and if you were to buy one you would be helping me out right royally. Thank you.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Would this were true……are there plans for a Really Big Bouncy Castle in Canterbury cathedral next Lambeth conference….. please…..

I assume the accompanying music is
“Give me joy in my heart, keep me bouncing”

    Have a good weekend, Dave

  2. Karen in Laguna Niguel says:

Hmmmnnn. Six bishops and five croziers.

Has a suffragan grabbed the missing crozier to use as a fishing pole?

Perhaps one of the bishops has a collapsing crozier and has slipped it in his pocket (Interesting symbolism there)?

  3. Rhys says:

I expect he was just hiding it round the back so he’d be able to tell it apart from all the others.

I have to say this is the finest cartoon I’ve ever
seen that contain the word ‘crozier’. Well done! (and in all seriousness, please do a cartoon challenge again once you’ve recovered from the first five: it’s been very entertaining).

  4. Karen in Laguna Niguel says:

Rhys: Of course! The old hide-the-crozier-at-the-back-of-the-bounce-house trick . . .

I have thoroughly enjoyed this cartoon challenge. I do believe I’m going to issue myself a similar challenge to encourage my short story production.

  5. Aaron says:

One of them is a retired bishop, no longer exercising episcopal authority, so he leaves his crozier at home.

If this was what really happened when bishops met, then the Kingdom would truly be visible in the church.

  6. Mary says:

I went to a friend’s licensing Saturday night, and at the beginning there were the 2 bishops processing up the aisle in Bristol Cathedral … I could hardly keep a straight face, as all I could think was “where’s the bouncy castle?”

  7. Bishop Alan Wilson says:

Damn you, Dave Walker — How did you find out? But why did you leave out the jellies and toadstool?

  8. Phil G says:

if only this were too! if only!

  9. Phil G says:

    true even…! true! doh!

  10. webweaver.pttw says:

    According to XE.com

    95.00 GBP
    =
    193.234 USD

I was wondering why you didn’t give the US price in USD. Now I know.
