Cartoon challenge night

This is an experiment. I feel like a bit of a challenge this evening, so I’m going to attempt to do five cartoons on topics suggested in the comments to this post. Just to make it a bit more difficult I’m going to aim to draw the first five suggestions posted. The cartoons I produce will quite possibly be rubbish, but who cares about that sort of thing.

So, if you are reading this on Wednesday evening UK time then please feel free to suggest a subject. It doesn’t have to be anything to do with my usual topics (church and things that happen around the house) but it can be. One topic suggestion per person please.

Small print: Comments are moderated, so the first five may include some that don’t appear straight away. I’ll aim to draw the five cartoons this evening, Wednesday, but I can’t make promises on that front. I reserve the right not to draw something on any topic that I don’t want to draw about for reasons best known to myself. I reserve the right to write more small print if I feel like it.

Updates on progress
18.20 This post posted
18.24 Anne makes first suggestion “Counting up your portions of fruit and veg for the day“. Good one
18.27 I’m busy thinking about vegetables when Peter’s suggestion comes in “Deciding whether to go to services or watch a football match“. Marvellous.
18.28 Incoming telephone call
18.34 Suggestion 3 from Simon: “How to become a really influential, well known, yet humble Christian blogger“. OK, will add it to the list.
18.40 Learnerpriest: “Whether or not Gordon Brown is going to call an election.” Darn it. I knew someone would mention politics. Oh well, all part of the fun of it. Thanks Learnerpriest.
18.41 Mary suggests “The pros and cons of having a bouncy castle in church“. Super.
18.43 I announce that I have 5 entries, just as John posts ‘Sausages’. Sorry John! Right, I’m now going to log off for a few hours to do some housework, cook dinner, eat dinner, and between times hopefully do some drawings. See you later – probably not before about 20.30.

21.00 Started drawing.
21.50 Finished drawing, scanning and uploading the first one. The others will not take as long.
21.53 Realise I have made a mistake. need to rescan a bit and redo two parts of the picture. Time consuming. Bother.
22.08 Mistake rectified. Took valuable drawing time though.
23.13 Second cartoon posted
23.48 Third cartoon posted.

That will be all for tonight. Three out of five isn’t bad. I will do the other two tomorrow.

  2. Peter says:

My idea for a cartoon is something having to do with the conundrum of deciding whether to go to services or watch a football match (or a soccer game as the case may be).
    THANKS! Great stuff.

Sorry John. I may do a bonus cartoon, but I’m going to focus on the first five. OK, off to think while I do some household chores. Will be back in a few hours hopefully with some drawings.

9:10 – Equal quantities of smugness and chagrin in the Pettigrew household as it is realised that Anne’s fruit and veg made the cut, but John’s sausages didn’t… and no, sausages are NOT vegetables…

  11. Michelle says:

Wandered by at 9.16pm so too late to suggest something stupid like ‘toilet flushing techniques’ – but looking forward to the rest!

    I’m loving it! Spontaneous humour!

  19. Rebecca says:

I’m looking forward to the bouncy castle cartoon too! We had one put up in our church for a children’s fun morning just before Easter. It was inflated during a worship group practice – and started to deflate while we were singing ‘It’s rising up’! Needless to say the singing soon turned to giggling…

Of course there was the year they had an inflatable church at Greenbelt. A bit like the church being the bouncy castle. Did anyone make good use of that or was it a 5 minute wonder?
