Last year I did Arabic level 1. This year I want to do Arabic level 2
(predictable eh?) but my diary has been so crazily full at the mo that I'm trying to work out if I can really afford the time. The classes are really good fun though.

So sorry to hear about your disappointment on the journey of lifelong learning - but cancellation of these courses seems to be fairly commonplace. I have started a Primary PGCE - not much chance of that being cancelled due to undersubscription, but then again, a bit low on the leisure and pleasure quotient...

Yes, what was the additional course?

I'm considering doing a "Walks of Sydney " course, or perhaps something on Ancient Rome. Then again, Wednesday night is a good TV night in Oz so I may just stay at home.

So what was the alternative course they offered you then? Was it any way connected with your choice or some random offering like shoe re-heeling or bricklaying for lighthouses?

This reminds me of one of my favourite Woody Allen jokes.
'I did a speedreading course. I read 'War and Peace.' It's about some Russians.'
Good luck with the Psychology. I love this time of year (the crisp air! the russet leaves! the smell of fresh exercise books! )and normally start a class, usually a language, but this year my husband is starting training for the Anglican priesthood (see above)so I'm being a bit careful about overcommitment. Still, it's fun helping him with his NT Greek especially as I'm better at it than he is, heh, heh. Am slightly (well, hugely) apprehensive about his new start and all the new sound 'n'sorted people we'll meet - 'Relax and be yourself,' my friends say, but as I'm both RC and on the manic-depressive side there's a lot of me I don't want to expose and risk thus spoiling his career!
I really enjoyed your book, Dave, and your blog never fails to lift/interest/amuse. Thank you and God bless you!

Hi,

Sorry your course was cancelled. I'm impressed by the effciency though. My Urdu course didn't have a tutor, but rather than phoning, decided to wait until we arrived to tell us!

My eldest is doing Psychology A-level. He could do with a bit of persuading. Maybe I'll get him to walk the plank and reduce his dubloon allowance ...

To nick an old Steven Wright joke, last week I did a course in subliminal advertising. It only took a second.
