I think they're having problems this weekend. Yesterday I received an announcement with great fanfare that their "New, improved" logos and badges were online and that I didn't need to do anything. I can't tell the difference between the new improved and the old unimproved. About a month ago they announced that they were increasing the charge for their credit card terminal services from $20 to $30 per month (US). They debited me accordingly. Last night they did this month's billing and only debited me the old $20. I don't know if something's broken or if they had a change of heart. It's a holiday weekend here. I'm going to wait til Tuesday to call them.

A fudged solution might be to charge £30 for the liscence, and £5 for the postage, thus still keeping the cost the same and appeasing the weird ways of Paypal.

Otherwise, back when I used to use paypal, I remember you could use different codes for 'product', 'service' or 'donation'... the latter two, presumably, shouldn't generally need postage...

I fear the ebay/paypal enterprise is trying to find ways to increase revenue. Ebay put effective rates up a lot recently but as they have such a big presence it is hard for anybody else to get a foot in and be a serious competitor. I suspect the same applies to the paypaln side of things as they try and make more and more from each transaction.

However it must mean people are buying your wares which is a good thing...or at least they did some time in the last 2 years and Greenbelt has made you resolve to catch up :-)

You know, if all else fails, there are always alternatives to PayPal, such as PPPay.com or Google Checkout. No point paying for credit card merchant services when you don't need to.

Are you aware of moneybookers.com ? If you have to give up PayPal (and even if you don't) they are a very good alternative, UK based, and with very reasonable rates. Well worth a look. NB I do not work for them. Nor am I a lawyer, etc.
