Just because I've grown cynical in my old age does not change the fact that New Wine is overblown emotional claptrap.

You should come Dave. Not simply as a cynic but in order to engage with the crazy, mixed-up, charismatioc, evangelical world with a hintette of God at work. We could run a debrief session every day. Bet it would be full.

Imagine the ministry team having this conversation:

How do you want to respond to what you now understand God has done for you?

I'd like to draw please.

I found that the best time at Soul Survivor to jump in the showers was during the "Ministry times" - wondering off can be useful...

sometimes I wonder if I've become a little cynical in the last couple of years.

but, I still get psyched by seeing someone lit up from the inside - and I think that most of us can tell the real deal

did I really say 'real deal'.....sigh ;-)

Now Dave I get all the reservations about hype and 'jus believe it' and emoting and stuff but just a second here - if this stuff about Jesus is true its incredible, it changes everything, its central to the lot. The trouble is we poor little earthlings are such earthen vessels we hardly know how to talk about it or even to exaclty say which bits are really the strong stuff.

But you are a prophet in this lot - so what are you going to say you are FOR about Jesus?

For me I can only say I met Jesus, I still cant explain it theologically or logically - all I know is it opened up a huge space of possibility in my life I've been filling since and even occaisionally just imagine I really heard his voice - principally saying 'come on you can do it, I really think you're great' which to the outside sounds banal but it cuts it for me...

So 'New Wine' - may they all be drunk, even if the pubs aint open.

Do you have evangelical "Worship Centers" in England? It's the new buzzword for "church," but somehow I find it lacking. We have Worship Centers all over the place. I figured out you could spend an entirely "centered" weekend: On Saturday I dropped my dirty clothes off at the Fabricare Center and my automobile at the Care Care Center. Then I jogged over to work out at the Fitness Center. I was trying to get all my errands done, as I knew we were planning a big Sunday at the Worship Center...

I could grow to miss my mechanic, dry-cleaner, gym, and church.
