Ruth – you’d need to ask I think. It might depend on what sort of thing you wanted to do. It does tend to get quite booked up with church weekends etc, but worth asking.

If you wanted something more basic, say a church hall with attached kitchen, I do know a place. Near London, outside space, 1 minute walk to the Thames.

Why stop at leaves, Dave? It’s a concept that could be extended to fallen branches, litter and perhaps even small rodents. We used to paint messages on my tortoise’s shell, although I expect that is probably now illegal and the RSPCT would be after us.

By the way, just came back from the Churches’ Media Council Conference at Swanwick, and your cartoons were mentioned approvingly in a workshop on comedy in the religious media. Thought you’d like to know.
I didn’t write on any leaves but I was given a small yellow rubber duck and two light up lollipops. Which was nice.

Would you mind me asking whether it’s a good place for children? only I’m taking responsibility for organising Sunday School from September (gulp), and I’d like to do a ‘retreat’ during the year ahead – with the Sunday School. Somewhere not too far from London. Adn I don’t know where to start to look….

Have not been to Ashbunham in twenty years! I wonder if it has changed at all.

Do they still do the chicken casserole on the Saturday evening, followed by the runny trifle thing?

I seem to recall coming back from every Ashburnham weekend with a chest infection: something to do with the damp in the dorms.

And then there’s the out of tune piano in the Library…
