Cat pictures

Yesterday I promised you a high resolution cartoon, but I have not delivered. My excuse is that some of my family were here and we went to the Secret Nuclear Bunker.

Instead here are some more pictures of our cats:

our cats

our cats again

They are adorable of course, but they are causing us some stress at the moment as one of them likes to leave the garden to go and jump on neighbours’ cars and plastic greenhouses in order to see whether she can do any damage. The other is sure to follow. Keeping them in the garden does not really seem to be an option without a large expense and a lot of chicken wire. Perhaps we will have to go and speak to all the neighbours and apologise in advance for all the damage our cats will cause over the next decade or two. I am already given funny looks locally because I have a campervan and look a bit odd, so to be honest it is all water off the back, as ducks say.

If you have any experience of using chicken wire for cats (or for chickens) please write in.

    Your cats are adorable!
I love your blog – it always makes me smile :-)

  2. yay says:

Ah chicken wire – easy. Just wrap it round the cats. That’ll keep ‘em home!

  3. Sarah B says:

Surely some form of cat-wire would be more appropriate – a difference in the size of holes? Do ducks often say that? I usually just hear them say “Quack!”

  4. Michelle says:

I’m always slightly amused when I drive past the road signs that all point to the “secret” nuclear bunker!

  5. Judith says:

They are adorable – no,let them have their freedom and enjoyment. It is cruel to curb them.

I have been adopted by a stray cat and she follows the example of Maud who is 16 years old – staying put indoors at all costs and sleeping! They only seem to wander out when I am out in the garden.

Your youngsters will soon settle down. Judith

  6. Eileen says:

    If your neighbours get angry re a cat print – tell them to go to E bay to buy a life & a sense of humour, cats rule!! Leave them to enjoy life;

    Cats do settle down…eventually.

There are lots of cat run options. Low cost: chicken wire angled inward extension around your entire yard, so that the kitties cannot get beyond. I will email you a drawing of what I mean if you do not understand.
High cost: Cat netting installed by the cat netting people or by yourself. It is similar to tennis netting and is often made by the same company.

    2 things…
    1) your cats are sitting on your desk/ a desk, so noone can expect you to do any work.

    2) cats need wider roaming space than a garden. once they get past 2-3 years old, they do develope small amounts of sanity, too. let them roam and destroy freely. If the neighbours object, tell them to get some cats of their own, who will defend their territory from ivaders- unless they’re cowardly.

  9. ash says:

on the subject of bunkers, this one is pretty cool!

  10. Jaded for Jesus says:

Jumping on neighbours’ cars? Pah, that’s nothing. Long, long ago we had a Burmese cat that used to jump at moving vehicles, just for the fun of it. Burmese are known for being very highly-strung and basically batty, and you can guess that the story does not have a happy ending…

I’m in an extended cat-owning lull at the mo, so am enjoying your moggies vicariously. Thanks.

  11. Richard says:

Burmese are definitely nuts, my parents have two after the person they got them from said that she’d had one returned who had been left alone all day whilst the owner was at work, and had managed to get into the wardrobe and shred most of the clothes…

With my parents pair, they’ll quite happily go into neighbours houses – one year one of them got an obsession with Christmas decorations and would come back with items that he’d pulled off on of the neighbours Christmas trees…

As to trying to keep cats contained – it is generally pretty difficult, as if there is a hole anywhere they’ll find it. The best way to keep other peoples cats out of your garden is to get your own cat…

  12. Jaded for Jesus says:

Richard, my son asks how on earth the cat got the shredder into the wardrobe…

  13. Ann says:

Cats who roam have a much shorter life on average than those who don’t – keep your cats safe. They do not suffer from confinement unless it is a cage!!
Cat lover in Wyoming with cars on the road also owls and coyotes who love tasty pets.

  14. Lesley says:

aw cuties – they obviously love the camera. Just one of those things cats like to roam so you have to hope they develop a bit of streetwise safety.

  15. Sarah says:

I get more than my fair share of sunshine given that I hail from Australia but I didn’t realise that you get sunshine in the UK strong enough to cast a shadow. Nice.

  16. Richard says:

The cat didn’t need a shredder – Burmese can be seriously nuts.

Thankfully my parents pair aren’t quite so destructive – although they have their moments. The reason for having a pair is that they expend their energy on each other, rather than on your clothes/furniture/carpets or whatever.

  17. funny cats says:

You kitties are cute! Chicken wire may work, but cats are pretty good climbers. You would have to work a bit to make sure they can’t escape.
