I bought a new PC a few weeks ago, and your cartoon sums it up nicely!
Problem 1 – no sound – they weren’t included in the package, and no-one told me I should order them as an extra. Pilfered 7yo DD’s speakers, problem solved.
Problem 2 – cannot connect to the internet, because modem not compatible. So I THEN had to order a new modem (so I went wireless).
Problem 3 – cannot connect with new modem. Funnily enough, “have you tried rebooting?” worked without me needing to speak to a techie to tell me this!
Problem 4 – how to get everything off the old PC… still working on that. Outlook express doesn’t want to export…
… and so the list goes on! You can understand why there is a proliferation of self-employed IT experts in the local rag now…
(I feel much better now I’ve got all that off my chest!)
Dave,
how did you know my frustrations!? Spent all day yesterday running up and down stairs between computer on broadband and new computer supposedly on broadband (but the wireless receiver doesn’t want to receive) and in desperation reassembling my old computer in order to get emails (on dial up which is now very slow due to broadband).
Are you a mind reader or something? At least it’s not only me…
NOOOOO OOOOOO!!!!!
Technology is lovely! I can’t get enough of it.
In my ‘church’ on campus we have recently installed a home cinema system (including giant screen and projector) the whole building is now a wireless hotspot and we are going to shove in a Nitendo Wii for the students to play with.
We also do free tea and coffee all the time and people hang around (watching videos drinking coffee or just chatting) all week not just on Sunday.
I think that makes us the best Church in the northern hemisphere.
Forget pews…games machines are the future!
I love technology!
If you’re reading this, by the way, please please don’t come along at 3 am and break into chaplaincy and steal all the great stuff I’ve just admitted to owning.
It will make the students cry if you do.
Thank you.
