I tried to get Fairtrade roses at my mum's Sainsbury's today, but they had sold out. I guess it was a bit late, but I thought they would be fresher.

So she had a couple of bunches of British grown daffodils from M&S which is joined to the Sainsbury's store and a bottle of Surrey Gold. You'd think the daffs could have been grown without any additional heat at this time of year and so be fairly environmentally friendly, after all they are growing fine in all the local gardens, but who knows.

[...] Thanks to Dave at Cartoon Blog for posting this link reminding us that we should be very careful where we purchase our fresh flowers. A lot of people are exploited in their production, and pesticides and other poisons go right along with the territory. Just something to file away until it’s time to honor our own Moms (or Mums). [...]

Ooh, I've seen the man selling his art on his front door. Didn't actually realise it was his front door though, just thought he'd 'set up shop' on the street. I'll have a closer look next time I walk past now he's been mentioned here!
