I find they tend to happen while I'm in the middle of something, and not best placed to write them down or record them in some way. At other times I can get a stream of ideas that come so fast I can't write them down fast enough. Maybe there's an ideas cloud that floats about and dispenses them at random. My best ideas have probably been had by someone else first. So I tend to think originality is overrated. (As somebody once said.
