2008 Calendar

calendar ideas

I am currently working on my calendar for 2008.

Those who know me will be perplexed by this, as usually I begin work on the calendar on around the 31st of December, or perhaps the 24th of December if I am giving copies as Christmas presents. However, I am pleased to be able to tell you that my calendar for 2008 is going to be published by Canterbury Press, the people who published my book and is going to be done properly unlike my usual ones. It will have entirely new drawings – none of it will have appeared on the internet and over 90% of it will not have appeared anywhere ever.

There is a small taster here on the Canterbury Press website.

The scheduled publication date is the 31st of May 2007 which Is around the same time as the Christian Resources Exhibition.

    That is SO exciting!

‘Author: DAVE WALKER enjoys a huge following as creator of the humour website cartoonchurch.com and as a Church Times cartoonist. His first cartoon collection sold out within four months and was the Christmas Canterbury Press bestseller. A former church youth and community worker, he lives in Essex.’

not just any old following, but a huge following no less… ;-)

  3. jody says:

oops how do I stop italics? it’s like the magic porridge pot, I can start them, but not stop them!

    hello

    did that work?

  4. Karin says:

That is indeed good news. Well done, Dave!

I hope today’s post means you are feeling a little better than yesterday. If you are, remember not to overdo it all the same.

  5. John Davies says:

I notice that you don’t make your plans on the back of an envelope. You do it on the front of an envelope. To me this seems breathtakingly unconventional.

  6. Serena says:

Congratulations! I will definitely get one, if you remind us nearer the time. I’d write it on my calendar, but …

  7. thomas bushnell, bsg says:

How about the following radical idea, unfortunately not noted in your cartoon above:

For each week we could have all the days in order, eg,

    –Sunday
    –Monday
    –Tuesday

Appointment calendars, thanks entirely to Europe, now seem to always begin on Monday.

  8. Dave says:

Thomas, My calendars for the last few years have all started on a Sunday and I am fairly certain that this one will start on a Sunday too.

  9. Mark Berry says:

You could always do a version with the months and days in alphabetical order.

  10. Ian says:

    Well done and congratulations Dave!

  11. Rob says:

How about having the months in alphabetical order? Much more practical, more helpful for those (children and foreign language students) who are learning the names of the months.

    And certainly more original.

  12. Karin says:

How many people will buy their 2008 calendar this summer???

    Hahahahahahaha

  15. Philip of Samaria says:

why not have a proper calendar with intersting things on it like ‘rogation day’ ‘lammas day’ ‘ash wednesday’ etc? and ‘spring equinox’ (soon to be with us)

  16. Nefertiki says:

Until reading comment no. 15 I thought Dave’s calendars were for the most part, proper. And I also thought they had many interesting things within, other than calendrical things. Little did I know …. But if one is buying the calendar only for calendrical info one can always add the interesting things, like lammas day, oneself. I’d add Arbor Day.

I’m impressed that not only are you using the front of an envelope, but a redirected envelope! They are as rare as a very rare thing – most of our post has a very interesting journey to our old house, hand delivered to my work place and then finally to rest at our new house/recycling bin.
