I rang the nice tax lady today to ask her to take off some 'benefits' from my personal allowance for this yr (07/08 for avoidance of doubt and for those still stuck with LAST YEAR'S return) and she said 'no problem sir I'll deal with it right away'. Wow - what has happened! Admittedly I await the written confirmation but not a 'letter in triplicate required' in sight... ..is this a presage of revival?

oh dave!! oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. it's like you are here in my office!!

i started mine the other day, got scared, and went to make tea and didn't get back to it. should one date each year bring so much universal fear and disallowing of a person's natural humanity??

and ok, explain this one to me: no, don't. you don't want to hear it. but the brutes have been brutes and inhuman and i'm just a tad resentful of having to deal with invertibrates rather than other humans.

sorry, i know that's not very gracious. perhaps i'll just make myself some more tea and it will all be ok. :-/

Done the bugger!

I don't quite understand the answer, but I think I'm free of having to pay them anything until July. This must be due to the immense amount I paid them last year, and is a bit of a relief I must say.

I'm very tired now after an evening of wailing 'well if that goes in box 3.24, where does the baroque bow and the 52 miles to Frome and back fit??'

am not doing a tax form (don't 'work' and so don't earn any money, just spend it on 'fees' or something) my hubby has to do one, and he did it last week, you could see the physical weight lifted from his shoulders...

I just have to say...mumble....exams....should be revising....mumble....Calvin....inner testimony....mumble....suffering in OT...maybe I'll have a cup of tea....mumble....

Well done everyone. Keep up the good work. I have now tackled the clothes hangers and so am ready to start on the green box.

Also smug about having done it, but slightly less smug about owing £680 for 2005/6 and £1000 first instalment for 2006/7. And I use an accountant.

I've started.

I thought I'd lost half the necessary paperwork, but it's OK. It was in the room I expected, just a different pile - between an old amazon box and Delia's 'How to Cook'. Which makes me wonder what exactly was distracting me last time I went through this process a year ago.

Oh - and I got all filled with righteous anger earlier cos the online form was down, and I thought they'd have to give me an extension as it was their fault... but it's up again now and apparently I am 15% completed. Only the complicated bit to go then...!

Oh dear, I came across this whilst procrastinating on doing my tax return by spending some time on the internet. Guess I'd better get on with it now.
