VirtueOnline

The Archbishop of York’s press officer gives VirtueOnline a well deserved telling off for writing a piece about Archbishop John Sentamu packed full of utter nonsense:

This piece is a joke. It has a factual error in almost every other sentence.

If you had any integrity whatsoever you would take it off your site and re-write it in entire and re-post having done some actual research rather than (incorrectly) cutting and pasting.

Absolutely.

I would warn anyone against reading too much of David Virtue’s VirtueOnline site, especially the frequently hateful comments threads. It is a site that even most conservative Anglicans are ashamed of. In addition entire newspaper articles are usually printed without permission and with no link back to the originating site. You just can’t do that these days, especially if you are making advertising money with other people’s content. I for one would support any newspaper or anyone else who tried to shut him down.

  2. Chris Clark says:

Goodness Dave, don’t give him air time!

For Virtues benefit John Sentanu was at the Fulcrum conference earlier this year. Fulcrum addresses the evangelical centre of Anglicanism It’s for those of us who can’t sign up 100% to New Wine and/or Reform

I just had a quick look at the link to Virtue’s site, and my goodness, doesn’t it make you sudder.

Do you think he writes the ‘comments’ himself? Or am I underestimating the sycophancy of some of his followers?

  4. Dave Rattigan says:

Virtue is a sadly spiteful and bigoted man. He is fully deserving of the place I have given him in the Leaving Fundamentalism Hall of Shame.

I generally think I am a ‘conservative evangelical’ but this guy is just hateful, it’s horrible to be pulling people apart I can’t believe it! Agree or diagree with someones theology, personal attack is sin, bigotted horrible site.

  6. Evan Gelista says:

David Virtue is a man who tells the truth. You liberals can’t deal with it!!!

Look at what is happening in the communion, it is shameful. The Anglican can no longer be considered a Christian Church.

    Hey Honey,…I’m Rome!

  7. William A. Wheatley says:

I have been reading David Virtue for years and am an occasional contributor to his news service. He is an honest, committed and Christian Anglican. I support his Anglican news service, which is truly a Christian mission.

I am not “anti-gay” or “anti-female”. I am a Catholic Christian who believes the Gospels and who understands the Catholic interpretation of Scripture. Homosexual behaviour is incompatible with the life if Christian Grace, as is adulterous behaviour and any sexual activity outside of Christian Marriage, which can only be marriage between one man and one woman. That does not mean that I condemn any sinner, only that I condemn certain acts as sins. After all, all are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God.

A public sinner — one who persists in publicly acknowledging his/her continuing performance of acts that are objectively sinful — can not justifiably be ordained to Holy Orders. That is why a confessed homosexual should not be ordained to the priesthood or consecrated to the episcopacy.

The Anglican Communion is in dire straits — and I praise David Virtue for documenting and reporting objectively on what is going on.
