I have a new PO Box address

I ordered a new PO Box for my CartoonChurch.com mail and card orders and suchlike and suchforth. I then decided to send myself some letters so that I could (1) test the PO Box and (b) get some post because I like post.

I sent one letter on October 2nd, the day that the PO Box was due to start working, and one four days later. Both letters arrived on Tuesday. The 16th of October.

Better late than never. It does mean that after an initial hiccup the PO Box is now at last working. Therefore I can now be postally contacted by writing to:

CartoonChurch.com
PO Box 6250
BASILDON
SS14 0DD

I am quite pleased with the last bit, 0DD. Please note it is ‘zero’ DD, not the letter ‘O’ DD. Please do not make your 0 look like an O or the post might not get through.

I have hopefully now updated all the places on this website and the various forms so that they all have this address. My Rayleigh address and PO Box should still work for a number of months, but this is now the one to use.

If anyone would like to send me post of any kind (not bills) then please do.

I have to say that the whole postal situation with this and also my forwarding of mail has been a bit of a bother as both have been quite unreliable. But I do still remain a fan of the Post Office and in particular their local branches, which are once again in the news. On which note, if any record executives are reading I’m really hoping that someone will release ‘Don’t close the Post Office‘ by JonnyB (previously reported here) as a single. Never has the time been more timely.

Congratulations Dave! Hope your new PO Box receives lots of nice orders for cards and large commission cheques and is totally junk free – unlike mine WHEN the postman actually gets round to delivering mail – today at 1245!!

It has been noted in the Village that when he in on holiday the post arrives before 0800. This is because he has at least three ‘breaks’ for marmalade sandwiches and copious amounts of coffee.

Oh well, at least we still have a postal service!

  2. Emma says:

    Mark, is his name Pat?

  3. Emma says:

I read this interesting paragraph in Danny Wallace’s ‘Join Me’ book today about PO Boxes:-

“It seems that when I set up the PO Box address and started to send that out to my joinees, I hadn’t realised that quite often the Post Office hangs on to the letters until there are enough of them to warrant a delivery. I’d assumed they’d arrive at my house in the order they were sent…but no.”

Perhaps that is the reason for the lateness of the letter arrivals?

  4. Lizzie says:

Surely, Emma, with a predilection for marmalade sandwiches, it’s Paddington?

  5. Mark says:

No Emma, his name is John not Pat! He is much more Camberwick Green and Greendale!!!

  6. JonnyB says:

Alas I have had bugger all interest from the record companies.

Although I’m now in the archives at Glasgow Caledonian University’s ‘centre for political song’, between Bob Dylan and Public Enemy.
