I suspect I was the only person watching Songs of Praise this evening who was taking photos of the screen when there were good shots of people holding hymn books. This was not one such picture, though people with open mouths are useful too.
Apologies to the BBC if taking photographs of Songs of Praise is not allowed. I tried to find out, but couldn’t.

I’ve had a really bad day (my young children were so incredibly badly behaved at church this morning (my 22 month old shouted out the worst possible thing that anyone could shout out at the end of the banns, for a start!!) and things have become progressively worse by the hour). But this has made me laugh (and that’s the first thing that has today). Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m gonna look forward to Midsommer Murders now!!

Spot the people who are just mouthing the words.
There is definitely someone doing an ooo sound whereas the lady at the front is catching flies.
The white-haired man with black tie at the top center appears to be whistling along rather than singing, humming, or just mouthing the words. In my opinion this is a good thing which ought to be encouraged. “Whistle in church!” might be a good motto for this practice.
