[...] 4th, 2006 · No Comments When we think about the radical changes that are taking place in our time, it behooves us tothink about how it impacts the church. I have done a lot of thinking about pastoral theology in the missional church. What does missional leadership look like? Both Missional Church (Guder) and A Peculiar People (Clapp) are very good resources as we think about how the changing cultural landscape impacts the church and her mission. McLaren has also written a lot about how all these changes might impact the ways we think about church, mission, leadership and training models in non-traditional ways (see Emergent Village).
I like it, and I've linked to it.

William: I don't think that ending up at the right-hand end is indicative of a lack of zeal. In fact, in my experience it takes courage to realise you are not a hands-in-the-air charismatic kind of worshipper but someone who is more comfortable worshipping God within a different sort of churchmanship.

I find it interesting that the Apostles and disciples of the early church did not experience this "evolution." Granted, many of them died of martyrdom, yet, their zeal never went away. I wonder what they had that "evolved" worshippers do not have today? Could it be the Baptism of the Holy Ghost?

Wonderful cartoon. We can go from right to left as well. What about the gaps in between each person in the line when we're not doing the worship/church thing. When church doesn't scratch where we are itching.

Good luck with the house move Dave.

Gareth (my almost 4year old son) and I giggled and laughed out loud after seeing this. I can relate with every single phase. And I'm comfortable as well as able step in and out of the phases too :-) Worship is never stagnant isn't it? Thanks
