Remedy for the heat

tap cartoon

Background information for readers in other hemispheres: It is very hot in the UK at the moment owing to the heatwave.

This morning I am going to do some administrational paperwork. You have my permission to give me a strong talking-to if you see me around and about on the internet between now and my 1pm lunchtime.

Thanks for the continued kindly words on Sunday’s post. They are genuinely appreciated.

i can’t bear this heat anymore, and that’s from someone who grew up with this kind of heat *plus* 80% humidity!! at least in america we had air con and outdoor swimming pools! but here in the UK i always get the feeling that everyone is in denial that it actually sometimes gets HOT in this country!

gasp splutter pass the chilled white wine and the ice cream!!!

Nessa, do you agree that everyone in the USA is also in denial about whether it gets hot in the UK? At least I was a bit dubious when I read of Dave’s “heat wave.” I thought, right, it must be 75 degrees fahrenheit. But your description of a heat waves certainly validates that it is HOT in the UK. The heat wave in the Hudson Valley has had temps in the high 90’s - not a rare thing in the summer. But today it seems a mite cooler. I hope the temperatures cool down for you soon over there. Until then, there’s always the dripping tap …
