I can count

I intended to point out that the comments do not address the actual TOPIC of the cartoon, just the crossings-out etc.

I hope you have visited my blog which was inspired by and set up as a direct result of my reading this cartoon – hence the link. All comments gratefully recieved (on or off topic). However, I can offer no crossings-out in my blog.

I am surprised that no-one has actually commented on the subject of this cartoon, which, in my experience, is a hot-potatoe for many people.

Woo Hoo, I have worked out how to not write my comment as Dave. Logging out doesn’t work no matter how many times you do it. Instead you open internet explorer and use that.

So… my comment – me, Maddie.

I think the reason you have to underline your answer is mostly so it is very quick to mark – afterall when you have all that working out stuff the answer could get lost. We wouldn’t want maths teachers to have to spend more that one second marking would we?

I hope you see that it isn’t bitterness here, I am merely expressing my understanding of the juxtaposition that is marking within school. Then trying not to scream and shout when someone says how little time marking takes them, and why on earth would anyone complain. They even get the children to mark their own work a lot of the time – because

1) the answers are in the back
2) if they cheat they are only cheating themselves.

I have let your strongly expressed comment go as I know that teachers only say what they say in a shouty way so that we grow up to be better people.

I cannot just cross out my mistakes because then you will see what was there before and you will realise that I am an idiot who cannot spell nor think.

Oh no. Now I’ve read your previous post which clearly states that comments will not be allowed if “The comment is expressed in a rude or aggressive tone”, and I, uncharacteristically it has to be said, but I was “being a teacher”, began my comment with an “Oi! Walker!”, which clearly deems it inappropriate. Will I ever see it, or this again….!?

p.s. I hope that you treat yourself to a glass of something bubbly from a bottle when you reach your deadline.

Oi Walker! In my school you were not allowed to tipex or scrawl out your mistakes. You had to put one neat line through them using a ruler so that the teacher could see what you had written before you corrected yourself….!?
