mission in work place

perhaps someone donning all available WWJD material, make poverty history bracelet, PUSH, FROG bracelets. fish on lapel, and on tie and screensaver that says 'JOHN 3:16'

and desk calandar with liturgical seasons in red.

you can't get much better workplace ministry then that!

Seen on church noticeboard:

7:30 PM Thursday: Pray the Pounds Away. Dieting and fitness course based on biblically approved foods, liturgical dance and exercise. If just starting the course, come 15 minutes early to register with appropriate Christian exercise clothing. Bring refreshments to share after class. Course conducted by Lady Cornelia Hushington, the vicar's great-aunt.

How convenient that the lowest book has a dent in it exactly the same shape and size as your head!

Things are obviously not as bad as you are trying to portray.

Count your blessings and head-shaped-dented-books, young man.

I was just going to post an idea about church noticeboards but then got the following idea which I prefer:

The vicar had borrowed his young son's electric blue mobile phone as he had to urgently text-message the bishop, but immediately became caught up in obsessively photographing the potted aspidistra on his window sill with it.

Dave, we have notices about the belly dancing classes on our church hall noticeboard. Our vicar is very fussy about not having out of date things so we don't usually. There are of course the traditional OFFICIAL notices of APCM, electoral roll numbers etc

How about having to go to the shops just before harvest festival? or youthworker getting essential biscuits for youth fellowship group?

a little late for churchwardens but... on sunday I noticed that our churchwardens always lead processions carrying a wand of office (aka fancy stick thing) and if they carry that people are supposed to follow them... even if they go home still carrying it???!!

Dave, these are good arguments (although those more picky than I might raise their eyebrows at the getting of communion bread on the way home from church).

Sally, your locality sounds like a hotbed of choral rivalry. Laminated sumptuous photography does seem to be going against the very ethos of church noticeboards.

Thanks all for continued suggestions.

The church board at the end of my road is on a prominent corner for publicising events. Posters for concerts jostle for position, and sometimes 'disappear' overnight to be replaced by a (rival) choir's poster. There also seems to be a battle on to have the most sumptuous photographic images on these posters. Choirs with money no longer use plastic A4 wallets to keep off the rain - they have laminated A3 publicity which covers 1/4 of the board.

One church I know usually has something a couple of months out of date on the notice board, like details of the Christmas services are still up in March.
