Emerging Church uncovered

The Sydney Anglican Church Newspaper falls for an April Fools spoof by the rascals at Emergingchurch.info. The story was all to do with Rev Adam Sapple and Eve Ennsong conducting naturist evangelism on Wyndup Beach. The Southern Cross, eager to make its readers aware of the dangers of ‘the Emerging Church’ warned:

Alarm bells should be ringing for CMS UK and the British arm of Church Army who have lent support to a website called Emergingchurch.info, which is set up to promote new expressions of church. The aforementioned Welsh nudist evangelism is one of those ‘fresh expressions’.

Update: the article, now edited, is here. All-round good fellow Darren Rowse is quoted along with Brian McLaren and a few other hangers-on like a bishop, a canon and a theologian.

Surely this would be called “flesh expressions”…

(credit for that goes to Simon Heron)

After ‘Together for the Gospel‘ and ‘Altogether for the Gospel‘ comes ‘In the Altogether for the Gospel’! :)
