Wibsite (again)

Wibsite.com is broken again and I’m not sure that it will be working again before Monday, unless Chris comes up with some hitherto-unthought-of miracle cure. Basically the web hosting seems to have broken, meaning that any file uploaded to the site becomes an empty file of zero bytes for no apparent reason. It means that on this occasion we are unable to mend the database problem which has re-occurred for the last month or so. There’s also no way to post an explanatory note on the front page. The hosting company helpline is open Monday to Friday daytimes only so we have no choice but to wait until then.

As I’ve said before we are planning to move the site to new webspace which should end these continual database problems. We in the process of making the new hosting work, but it is quite a major job and one that is taking some time given that Chris and I have a lot of other responsibilities. Lots of e-mails and phone calls are going back and forth and we are doing the best we can.

My continued apologies to all affected. In the meantime Wibloggers are of course welcome to use the comments here to convey messages of any kind. Well, more or less any kind.

    Dave, big thanks to you and Chris for all the hard work you are both putting in. It must be immensely frustrating.

    And a big ‘bah’ to the web hosting company. Cos nothing ever goes wrong outside normal office hours does it?!

    Indeed, I, too, would like to express my appreciation; sometimes it’s when things go wrong that we are reminded of how much is being done on our behalf. Looking forward, of course, to when the good ship WibSite is back on an even keel (trying, unsuccessfully, to stretch the metaphor to indicate perhaps happier times with the new hosting company).

    More of the usual offerings and praise and libations (what is a libation by the way?) to Chris’n'Dave for their ongoing wonderfulness, not just for putting up with webhosting crapness and wiblogger whingeing and dim questions (well, the latter from me anyway) but also for creating a site in the first place which means so much to us all.
