DHL deliveries

Today we have been filing sundry items so that things can be moved from A to B so that other objects can in turn be moved from C to B so that walls D, E, F and G can be painted with paint, colour H. It is all terribly complicated.

The following DHL delivery note came to light during the extensive reorganisation. In circumstances similar to those previously recounted in the Cartoon Blog entry dated the 4th of June 2005 a delivery was left in a ‘safe place’ outside the house.

DHL is, in case one had forgotten “the global market leader in international express, overland transport and air freight” according to their website. It is also “the world’s number 1 in ocean freight and contract logistics“. So there.

The moral of the story: Make sure you don’t order things over the internet if there is any chance that they might be delivered on bin day.

Dave, what you need is an ‘attractive’ and secure container cunningly disguised as a dustbin[no more unsightly eyesores!] in which delivery services can leave your packages. Of course, these will only be obtainable over the internet. But don’t worry; our specialised, personalised, and digitized super-duper courrier service will have the goods with you faster than the speed of light. Or not.

this happened to me with an amazon delivery…twice in fact (happened again when they redelivered after my first complaint!) ridiculous.

Last year DHL delivered three boxes that my mum had sent me. Two had big bright red stickers that said “FRAGILE” and sure enough those two boxes were full of broken stuff – including two valuable teapots and some irreplacable raku. DHL lost my business forever.

I had a friend who regularly recieved stuff via parcel companies who re-christened DHL as ‘Drop it’, ‘Hide it’, ‘Loose it’. Having said that, the ones around here have usually been pretty good, even the old Securicor Omega Express has improved a bit since they took them over.

The real troublesome lot have been Parcel Farce, who on one occasion have faked a signature and propped the parcel up against the front door, and on others have randomly selected a neighbour to which to deliver the parcel, and not bothered to post in a card. They also, shortly after we moved in tried to return a parcel to the sender with ‘address does not exist’ written on it…

Our very expensive parcel didn’t get as far as such a safe place as recipients bin, DHL lost it before it even appeared to leave their Enfield depot (where incidentally it shouldn’t have gone) We are now hanging on the terms and conditions (via Parcels 2 Go) which don’t cover us either. To boot have found them very slippery and unwilling to part with any helpful info ie, phone numbers and relevent departments. What a merry dance!
