Christian Resources Exhibition pictures

Today I have been recovering from giving out postcards, signing lucrative contracts etc etc. It was lovely to meet so many spendid people over the last few days. I’m hoping to mention a few names and link to a few links but I do not have time today as I’ve had to spend time downloading spam and doing jobs like returning the hire car. Hopefully they will not realise that I used it to transport my budget IKEA bookcase from A to B, because when they hire out small economy cars they are not expecting you to use it to transport budget IKEA bookcases from A to B.

Anyway, here are two pictures. First of all, me looking dazed and confused and about to hand out a postcard. Several thousand people have seen this sight over the last five days. Another several thousand people pretended to look the other way, no doubt fearing my high-pressure sales patter.

Picture 2, below the fold, is an explanatory photograph showing the layout of my stall.

This year as you can see I incorporated an area for the guests to mingle. Mingling was not extensive as the stall was only 2 metres by 1.25 metres, but a small amount of mingling is better than none at all.

If you were at the Exhibition then welcome and well done for finding the blog bit of the site. I hope you enjoy the cartoons and if you wanted to sign up for a licence to use the cartoons in your church you would make me very happy.

Apologies to anyone who is finding my lengthy goings-on about the CRE rather tedious. Normal service and up-to-the minute blogging and analysis about in-depth matters of the day will be resumed shortly.

Well, I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to get a free postcard and mingle in the ‘space to mingle’! Had planned to get to CRE on Friday but didn’t make it in the end which is a bit annoying, still that’s the way it goes sometimes! And my CRE shopping list was quite impressive (how sad!).

  2. St says:

I did two CREs a year for 10 years when I was at CPAS so apologies for keeping away. Isn’t standing all day a harder job than any one makes out? Respect to shop assistants.

  3. Dave says:

Sorry not to see you Michelle. Steve – indeed, standing up all day is hard work. I really don’t mind the standing as I really enjoy being there. It is one of the few times I meet other human beings after all. But for someone who didn’t enjoy what they were doing or selling I could imagine that the time would drag rather.

    1. Your shirt is certainly very neatly pressed so you can be reassured that you made a good impression.

    2. While you do look dazed and confused I feel certain that you can look that way while not feeling a bit dazed and confused. It’s just your way.

    3. Having a mingling area was a good idea, and though small might make minglers feel a bit closer in a good way. On the other hand it might make one or more feel too close and lead to loud accusations like, “You’re in my space!”

  5. Serena says:

It’s so nice to see your stall – now all of us too lame/busy/boring/apathetic* to go can see what we missed!

*delete whichever you like, I don’t care.

  6. Jack the Lass says:

I agree with Nefertiki, your shirt does look remarkably well pressed.

Who were in the neighbouring cubicles? Did they get the same amount of business as you, or did everyone gravitate to your pad? Were there any noteworthy other exhibitors? (I understand a few years ago there was a firm selling Christian socks, which I for one think would be an exhibit well worth looking at).

  7. Dave says:

Thank you for the kind comments, particlarly about my shirt. This shirt did in fact have a big crease right across it, but the photo kindly didn’t show it. I had to distract attention from the crease by doing wild hand gestures as part of my sales pitch.

Jack, I will say more about the neighbouring cubicles in a forthcoming post. We were supposed to call them ‘stands’ though, not ‘stalls’ or ‘cubicles’. I called mine a ‘stall’ when talking to PR Steve from the Ship of Fools and he exlained the difference, for which I was grateful.
