Jack - it's ok, the line break fell well for me. You can indeed give up the day job.

ST, thank you for sharing. I mean that sincerely.

OK, so the joke lost a little in the line break. Sigh - I don't think I'll be giving up the day job just yet.

In my last work place we had a specially designated, uh, filing cabinet, which we coded B-1-N. Unsurprisingly, it became my most well-used filing system ever. I'm thinking of reinstating it here.

I am a paper hoarder but no longer in denial. last year I got rid of my filing basket and told myself, firmly, that I should file paper when I had finished with it, not on some unstated, future occasion. Instead of doing this however, I found an empty draw in my stereo system cupboard behind my desk and started filing paper in there.

At our staff meeting I confessed to this and asked them to help me by holding me regularly to account by nagging me into doing my filing. I cleared out the draw and started to recover.

Then I developed a habit of throwing paper to be filed on the floor so that I could walk over to the filing cabinet with it next time I was going that way (it is a two metre walk and very draining). It is a good thing to get up from your desk and take a two metre walk every now and again, especially if, like me, you have had a back problem in the past. Why can't I learn?

Thanks for the cartoons. Feel free to join the naggers.

Now for the in-tray.

Richard - yes, I did phrase it badly. You are indeed an inspiration and an example to us all :)

Papers

Dave may have been thinking of himself and not Richard when he posted this cartoon, but it seems appropriate for My Messy Desk.
