Cartoon greetings cards

church cartoon

As I mentioned the other day four of my cartoons are available as Greetings cards. The four designs are this one (above), ‘The young people‘, ‘Orange juice‘ and ‘My life broken down into segments‘ which I’ve just realised isn’t on the site anywhere in non-card form.

I’m going to have a stall at the Christian Resources Exhibition in three weeks time and so I’m planning to produce a couple of extra card designs. But which ones? Any thoughts you might have welcomed. I’m afraid I won’t be able to make everyones favourite cartoon into a card, but who knows, I might be able to do so with one or two.

You could draw a chap in a crowd. The chap has his jumper draped over his neck and the arms are tied in front. He also has shorts, socks and sandles, and perhaps a ‘spring harvest’/'easter people’ badge circa 1991. Oh, and a side parting.

caption: Brian* always thought that it was perhaps his christlike/humble/meek/caring+ qualities that made him stand out as a christian.

Thank you moog. I hadn’t expected any ideas for new cartoons, so this is a bonus.

By the way, your Brian sounds a lot like me.

dave you truly are a comic genius.

and a special thanks for providing a much needed alternative to cheese in the christian card market.

What about the one about how the clergy spend their week? “Shut up”, with all the people going “blah” is also very good. And “The Next Song” is a particular favourite. Basically, I love your cartoons and need to stop now or I’ll list most of them as potential card material :)

We used to play a game similar to this called ‘church bingo’. Each player was given a slip of paper with various hymn/chorus numbers across it.

The first person to get a number on his piece of paper had to wave his hands in the air. If someone managed to get a whole line she shouted ‘Hallelujah’.

I recall that it was a very popular game until someone banned it for being unspiritual.

Dave, now at least two acknowledged, accredited, authoritative critics have acknowledged that you are a true comic genius so you can believe it.

The deceptive simplicity of some of your work has inspired me to think about drawing my own cartoons. I like to make up jokes and often visualize them so maybe I could. In fact I even bought a special pen about five months ago and will start drawing any day now.

Your humuor reminds me of FRED by Rupert Fawcett, but your drawing style is quite unique. Simplistic – and yet has a certain charm about it.
