Let’s leave it and see what happens

hard hats

Today we have been doing some DIY as it is a Bank Holiday weekend and that is what you do. (That is the link with the cartoon: Hard hats – DIY. Do you see?)

We are of the ‘Let’s leave it and see what happens’ school when it comes to Bank Holiday activity of the Do It Yourself variety.

[Endnote. I am pleased to report that one of these jobs did in fact get done. But now it is indeed raining so we have come inside to sit down and think about things.]

Congratulations on fulfilling your duty to society on Bank Holiday — it would not be proper to make a list where everything on it could be completed in one holiday day.

I must add however that surely, being the spiritual man you are, that sign should read:

“BELTS, BREASTPLATES, READY FEET, SHIELDS, HELMETS, AND DOUBLE-EDGED SWORDS MUST BE WORN BEYOND THIS POINT.”

On second thought, perhaps the hard hats sign should have an astrisks indicating a smaller sign underneath with the spiritual bit — we can’t negate a traveler’s phyiscal needs now, being mind, body, spirit and all. On third thoughts, the spiritual sign should be exactly the same size and thus take equal presidence… :)

I was gonna post something profound and witty….but someone else might do that too and make mine look less profound and witty….so I think I leave it and see what happens. ;-)

So love this blog Dave! A real oasis (well….not a real one….cos that would play havoc with my hard drive…).

At first, towards the end of your blog, I thought you were about to announce a contest to guess what chore(s) got done. You didn’t but I will share my thoughts on the matter anyway.

What Dave actually did: Pruned the dead bits at the end of the vine around the door — that would be the quickest and easiest. I hope that if you haven’t yet it will get done soon as some perennial vines need pruning every spring to grow properly. I hope it’s not a climbing rose because if it is its thorns will attack all visitors and should be transplanted to a trellis or arbor to be admired from afar.

What Dave probably should have done if he had the strength for only one chore: lay plastic over the gravel to keep down the weeds because now that it has rained the weeds will have come up fast.

(Freedom Bound: You ended up wittily after all!)
