April snow

I’ve had a great time down in Eastbourne, but the journey back was rather frightening owing to the snow.

The road up from Eastbourne to Tunbridge Wells is windy, goes up and down a lot and is mostly unlit. It started to snow really really heavily at about 10pm making the visibility quite awful. It was settling on the roads and even on the dual carriageway and (to a lesser extent) the M25. I very nearly stopped to try and find somewhere to stay, but decided that continuing was the lesser of two evils. Anyway, I am back safely for which I am thankful.

We are glad you survived it. I’m just impressed at the size windscreen your bike has!

You know I think it is worrying but most of my news comes from this blog. I had no idea there had been heavy snow.

There was snow on the ground at Gatwick about six o’clock this morning apparently. I didn’t see it as I was asleep in a warm bed, but hubby took son to airport for an early flight to see his girlfriend, who “conveniently” lives in Spain.

We are also glad that you survived the snowfall, kept a cool head and kept on through the ordeal of driving through such dangerous conditions. I believe the roadways are most dangerous at the start of a snowfall. And then there’s the dread black ice. I found your photo quite beautiful — the “bad quality” is just what makes it expressionistic.

Tiffer, I am concerned at your isolation from the news of the world which perhaps gives a false sense of security as well. Yes, this site is a great source of news and guidance –thank God for it! If we just follow this motto we’ll be all right: Listen To Dave — He Knows A Lot. (Anyway it’s better than reading a site on how to clean your house every day.)
