New logo

christian aidChristian Aid has a new logo. It was designed by Johnson Banks, who, as an aside, have a great website. It uses Flash or something I think so may not work if your computer is old and rubbish. I particularly like the ‘work tree’ section showing projects they have done over the years. You will like it if graphic design is your thing.

Hopefully the new ‘envelope’ label will be good for Christian Aid. I think it will, though on one poster I had through the post they were relying on the shape and style of the logo alone rather than having ‘Christian Aid’ on it, which I think is a mistake. Call me old fashioned, but putting the name on everything you do is a good idea.

I think I need a new logo. Or in fact a logo, full stop. The problem is that cartoons, whilst good for some things are often not great for logos. But then a stylish logo in a modern font may not get across what I am about. At the moment I just use CartoonChurch.com in Arial Black for most things as Arial Black is the boldest typeface one gets as a default in web browsers and things. But something more visual would be good.

Sorry if I’m rambling a bit. I blame my teeth.

Update: Favicon made into a logo.

Not that good really, but it was worth trying.

I thought the ‘mistake’ under the title was the logo!

Besides that – I think the favicon you use does the logo job pretty well.

  2. Rob says:

I keep on coming back to the point that the word “Christian” has been severely shrunk in relation to the word “Aid”. Kind of like they were a bit embarrased about it.

“Hi! I’m raising money for [mumble] Aid: a very worth while organisation! Would you like to donate money to [mumble] Aid?”

  3. birdie says:

I have just wasted a vast amount of time on that Johnson Banks website.

  4. Dave says:

Augustus. Thankyou. Though perhaps it says something about an organisation / company / website if you can’t tell what the website is. (I don’t claim to be an organisation)

Rob – I’m thinking of doing the same with cartoonchurch – all the emphasis on the ‘cartoon’ with the ‘church’ very small.

    Birdie – sorry!

  5. Chris says:

I like it, your new logo. You can now add the words “Graphic designer” and “Identity consultant” to your business cards *

    * If you don’t have any of your own, get some from other people and use the back. This is good stewardship of the earths resources.

  6. Nefertiki says:

Good ideas for business cards, Chris, but I’m not too sure about “Identity Consultant.” Perhaps it should be a bit more specific or Dave might be deluged by requests for appointments from people in identity crises like teenagers and people in so-called “mid-life.”

  7. Augustus Meriwether says:

Tsk, you so lazy. Can’t you be bothered to draw another little cartoon church? I didn’t mean just blow up the weeny favicon so it looks all pixellated.
