The heat

Some may have noticed that there have been more cartoons than usual. This is for several reasons:

  1. I have noticed that people come here to look at cartoons as it is a cartoon blog. A certain percentage of my writing is actually utter rubbish when one actually stops and reads it, so more drawings is a good direction to go.
  2. I have been drawing more cartoons than usual.
  3. I have been looking through some old material and sometimes posting it as it is (see the last post) or sometimes redrawing it a bit.
  4. It is good for my health. Emotional, mental, whatever (Simo has wisdom beyond his years).
  5. I need to make a bit more money. Not because of my administrational problems but more because I am, as readers may or may not be aware trying to make all of my money from cartooning and cartooning related activities, which is not easy.

    Wow I’ve been accused of having wisdom! Now there’s something that doesn’t happen often, keep up the good work Dave, were all here for you, and the stuff you write is great for reading, but we enjoy the cartoons too!

    Either since your move you have managed to find the only dentist taking NHS patents in the UK at the moment or you are making a bomb at this cartooning lark if you can afford the luxury of a dentist!

    Re: reason #1 – I have long admired your ability as a humor writer as well as a much-admired cartoonist; #3 – thanks for recycling as it is good for the planet; #5 – here’s a cartoon-related plan: make a video for kids on how to draw cartoons (you certainly have experience in talking to and teaching kids); advertise it on sites for children, especially those encouraging kid’s creativity; send copies to newspaper editors who critique or recommend that sort of things. Ask your friends with their own sites to put up links for buying the video. (I amaze myself by ideas I come up with when I put my mind to it. I’m sure others could do the same for you.) I just realized that you haven’t actually asked anyone for their ideas, so sorry for being presumptuous.
