Supermarket chickens

The options in Tescos this evening:

Free range chicken. Lives in its own 2 bedroom flat, can do its own shopping, go out and see friends and even enrol on college courses if it feels like it.
Price: £4.72

Battery chicken. Lives in a small cold darkened room with a thousand other chickens, except for half an hour a week when it is forced to watch Celebrity Desert Island Driving School.
Price: £1.99

    No organic chicken? Tut tut Tesco’s.

    Mind you I’m not sure the chickens notice such a difference between Free Range and Organic as they do between Battery and Free Range, but what about Customer Choice?
