The Methodists are blogging

A new blog for Methodists (A ‘Methodist blog‘ if you will) has been set up. It is called theConnexion.net, and is a place for British Methodists to gather on the internet. A bit like an after-church coffee time. Do Methodists have after church coffee? I suspect they do.

Ministerial blogging stalwarts Richard Hall and Dave Warnock are responsible for it. You can find further particulars on the further particulars page. If you know of any Methodists who are British why not befriend them and invite them along to this site? They will surely thank you.

Methodists are famed for after service tea and coffee. Usually dispensed in green cups with saucers (there must have been a methodist discount for buying such cups in 1936 of something!)

I’m a tea man myself, and methodist tea always seems to be served with a helping of frothy bubbles, like some kind of cappuccino. Though probably the result of liberal use of washing up liquid in the tea pot.

  2. Nigel says:

Of course we have after service tea and coffee. In fact our mission statement is “put the kettle on”. Ironically, for a denomination with a strong teetotal tradition, when our founder John Wesley was given a cup of this new fangled thing called tea he thought it disgusting, declaring he would stick to small beer.

  3. Richard Hall says:

Thanks for the link, Dave. Be careful about inviting your visitors to befriend Methodists though. You don’t want them getting involved with the wrong people.

  4. Dave says:

Thanks for the warning Richard. I think as long as readers tell someone where they have gone and the time at which they expect to return and only meet Methodists in public places they will be fine.

  5. Jen says:

Grrr!! I’m sorry, but I object to the supposedly automatic link between Methodists and tea/coffee! I’m a Methodist and don’t like either tea nor coffee. And I know Richard Hall doesn’t think he’s being hospitible enough, if he only gives me water, but honestly – its fine!
