At the Reform conference

Reform conference cartoon
[Click on the image to see the cartoon]

This one is just a quick scribble inspired by the Reform spokesman ‘running out of superlatives to describe the outrage’ that he felt over the fact the Archbishop Rowan and Gene Robinson met up for a chat and a pray. See Ruth Gledhill’s blog post as mentioned in my earlier entry.

Reform, for those who are unaware, is a conservative grouping within the Church of England opposed to… well… most things.

LOL~ My friend has a swear jar at her house and makes everyone put in a quarter if they even think a cuss word. She had one person walk in and pour a pocketful of change into it saying, “This should cover me for an hour.”

I’m just blog jumping and saw your name. I’m also an artist and love your funny drawings.

  2. Kyle (Captain Sacrament) says:

Please tell me this one’s going in the Church Times?

  3. Daron Medway says:

Are reform against a lot of things? I thought they were just ‘for’ the Bible just a bit too much.

  4. Dave says:

    Daron,

My own view is that Reform are ‘for’ the bits of the Bible they want to be ‘for’. Looking so closely at particular verses under the microscope that they forget what the whole message is.

  5. Nightlamp says:

Reform seem to be for the ‘law’ bits of the Bible and against the ‘grace and love’ bits.

  6. Daron Medway says:

Nightlamp, Reform try to avoid antinomianism; yes they do ‘love’ God’s law. Obedience to God’s law is a requirement of a holy life. What that odedience does not do is earn salvation or replace grace. It seems to me that without law; grace ceases to be grace and becomes licence. You will hear ‘salvation by grace through faith’ from Reform pulpits week in week out. Some would say that it is all they preach!
