Archbishop bashes blogs

Well, something like that. Thinking Anglicans has links to some of the reports about the Archbishop of Canterbury’s media lecture last night. The Guardian has the full text of the speech here. Andrew Brown was there, furthering his career.

I would love to say more, but I am going to be very very good. We don’t want to descend into ‘paranoid fantasy, self-indulgent nonsense and dangerous bigotry’ after all.

Ahem… Yes. Be good. Be very very good. Nothing to say here. Move along.

But it’s precisely the mixture of “paranoid fantasy, self-indulgent nonsense and dangerous bigotry” with generous warm humanity that makes blogs such a compelling example of free speech in action! I bet the poor old archbish only read blogs because he felt he “ought to” and not because he liked the people. What a good job God is not like that, but really loves us – even when we are paranoid, self-indulgent bigots! Like the archbish?!

wouldn’t that be dangerous blogotry? ;-)

  4. Darren Hill says:

while my comment is awaiting moderation could you also edit it to include the word ‘be’ between ‘that’ and ‘dangerous’ ;-)

  5. Dave says:

Darren – I’ve no idea why the system decided that your comment needed moderating, so sorry about that. Sometimes it does detect self indulgent nonsense, but not in your case of course.

  6. Darren Hill says:

    LOL
I was hoping that when you added the ‘be’ that you would delete my follow up comment and therefore not show the world my total incompetence when it comes to sentence structure.

Anyway keep up the good work!

  7. Dave says:

Darren – no no no! Total incompetence isn’t something to be hidden away or swept under the carpet. It is to be celebrated and paraded at the very top of the comments section.
